Antarctica 3

Our third and final trip to Antarctica was, once again, amazing. I feel like I am living inside a snow globe. The best thing to do is to just sit inside the lido and watch glaciers and animals go by as you’re eating dinner. This does not feel like real life. Scientists from Palmer Station in Antarctica came onboard to talk about their lives there and to answer questions. The station has a gym, dorm, bar, medical center and basically everything else one would need to survive and lead a somewhat normal life. It sounds a bit like living on a cruise ship in that it requires you to be pretty far removed from the world that you’re used to. I think it would be so neat to study in a place like this though. Apparently there are grad school programs that allow students to visit the stations here.

Penguins...everywhere!
